TAUNTON’S first Sunday Racemeeting this weekend looks like being a bumper occasion for followers of the ‘Sport of Kings’, writes Richard Walsh.
All of the leading trainers have entered horses, including Nicky Henderson, Paul Nicholls, Philip Hobbs, David Pipe, Nigel Twiston-Davies and Venetia Williams, while top jockeys Tom Scudamore, Aidan Coleman, Richard Johnson and Jamie Moore are booked to ride.
The first of the seven-race card goes to post at 1.50pm, with the most valuable event of the day taking place at 3.50pm, when the Bathwick Tyres Seniors Hurdle (Class Three) is worth £9,495 to the winner.
Punters can save up to 20 per cent on admission if they book online before 10am on the day prior to racing, through tauntonracecourse.co.uk.
A courtesy coach service departs from Taunton Railway Station two hours before the first race and returns from the course 30 minutes after the start of the last.
