LONGRUN Meadow Junior Parkrun celebrated its 100th edition (and second birthday) with a superhero theme on Sunday.

A total of 144 children and 25 volunteers turned out to join the party, many of them in comic book and film-inspired fancy dress.

Jack Emmett was the first to cross the finish line, with Lucy Hoseason (visiting from Bushy Park Runners) the first girl to complete the course.

Over its 100 events, the Junior Parkrun has welcomed 1,575 different children, representing 37 clubs and schools.

Between them they have covered a highly impressive 23,352km.

The Parkrun organisers gave their thanks to the volunteers who have helped them make it to their two-year anniversary, as without their dedication the events simply could not take place.
