ATHLETES from Bishop Henderson School, in Taunton, dominated the podium at the Somerset School Games.

Competing against the top 15 primary schools in Somerset, following area qualifiers in which many primary schools participated, Bishop Henderson’s athletes did extremely well at the finals, which were held at Millfield School.

More than 200 primary school children in Years 3-6 took part in a sprint, howler throw, distance run, standing long jump and relay at the games.

Claiming gold medals for overall team – for the third consecutive year – were the Year 5/6 athletes.

Year 6 twins Ruby and Eliza Ibbotson won gold and bronze, respectively, for overall female athletes in Year 5/6.

The school’s Year 3/4 athletes were awarded second place for overall team, and received silver medals.

Nia Rogers, in Year 4, won gold for overall female athlete and Thomas Webb, also in Year 4, also claimed gold for overall male athlete.
