They started off the first quarter strongly, gaining an 11-8 lead.

Going into the second quarter, Tone converted turnovers and good centre court play into goals, increasing the lead to 24-18 at half-time.

Sharks fought back in the third quarter but Tone held on, maintaining the lead with a score of 35-31.

In the final quarter Tone went all out, getting lots of turnovers and, with great play, they secured their first win of the season.

Harlequins 41, Monmouth 33

MONMOUTH travelled to Purnell’s in Division 1 and started the game well, with both sound attack and defensive play.

But they were hit with an injury to one of their defenders which knocked their rhythm, allowing Harlequins to take an early lead (11-5).

The second quarter was very even, with Harlequins maintaining their lead (22-16).

The third quarter saw Harlequins tighten their game plan but Monmouth replied with determination and plenty of sound defensive play (31-23).

The final quarter remained very tight and although Monmouth lost, they walked away knowing they had played their best and enjoyed the game

The third quarter was quieter, although passing and feeding into the circle remained good (32-16).

Galmington
Keinton 38, Hovelands 59

HOVELANDS travelled to Keinton this week and once they settled with their new combinations and got used to being outdoors, their game began to flow well.

Kelly Sully fed the shooters well and Hovelands soon took the lead and win comfortably.

Sydenham Rubies 47, Queensway 42

QUEENSWAY played away to Sydenham and the first half saw the Galmington team get to grips with some change in centre court positions.

This saw a one-goal margin increase to a 13-goal margin by half-time.

However, in the second half, Queensway fought hard, working together to win the third quarter by three and the final quarter by five.

It was not enough for a win but showed real stamina from all.

Player of the match: Carol Manning (GK).

Newbarn 31, Emeralds 36

A GREAT game for Newbarn saw the score tied after the third quarter at 27-27.

This was created by some fantastic play through the court.

The final quarter, though, proved a little too much for Newbarn as Emeralds took command to run out winners.

Lily Perrin was player of the match.
