Regional League 3 South
Taunton Vivary 55, Jack’s Gym 33

VIVARY hosted Jack’s Gym in Regional League 3 South and won by 22 goals.

The home side started in confident mood, scoring seven unanswered goals before the visitors began to find their flow, taking an early lead (16-11).

The second quarter saw some lovely passages of play from Vivary with the defence working tirelessly, the centre court players dominant and accuracy from the shooters seeing them pull away (32-18).

Vivary continued with their flow in the third quarter, limiting their opponents’ opportunities and increasing their lead to 44-24.

Jack’s Gym fought back in a more even final quarter, but Vivary’s early lead secured their win.

Players of the match: Isla May and Emily Tong; opposition’s POM: Fee Grammer. Squad (sponsored by Shine Hair Management): Fee Grammer, Emily Tong, Becca Holder, Faye Symons, Lauren Knight, Lauren Griffiths, Isla May, Gracie Stevens.

Somerset Premier Division
Taunton Tone 32, Glastonbury Abbey 26

TONE hosted Glastonbury’s Abbey, and played well throughout the court, winning the first quarter 11-6, and with changes to the team they managed to maintain their lead at 17-12 at half-time.

Abbey pulled back in the third quarter, narrowing Tone’s lead to 24-21, but with good play and lots of great turnovers the hosts secured the win.

POMs: Lucy Monk and Meg Palmer (on Tone debut). Squad (sponsored by The Black Horse Inn): Vicki Cornish, Becca Holder, Leila Aladin, Meg Palmer, Freya Bryant, D’Arcy Rowlands, Kim May, Lucy Monk, Ashlee Dale.

Somerset Division 2
Yeovil Aldon 42, Taunton Priory 42

PRIORY looked forward to playing Aldon, having beaten the Yeovil team above them a few weeks ago.

But this game did not start so well, with Priory losing their first centre pass and forced to play catch-up, with the Yeovil GS particularly accurate.

Priory stayed in touch, though, and hard work in the centre court and efficient shooting of their own kept them in the game.

In the final quarter, Priory went ahead a couple of times, but the teams could not be separated at the final whistle.

POM: Maisie Reynolds. Squad (sponsored by Matt Durbin Associates): GS Lucy Cox, GA Maisie Reynolds, WA Mel Reynolds, C Kate Durbin, WD Andrea Dobson, GD Amy Toole, GK Linda Holder/Sarah Hughes.

Somerset Division 3
Sydenham Emeralds 24, Taunton Tudor 42

TUDOR won convincingly away to Sydenham’s Emeralds, thanks to good passing around the court, despite a lot of new faces in the team.

The shooters found good space in the circle from the off and put Tudor in front at the end of the first quarter.

Tudor were able to maintain the lead throughout the game, with the shooters converting consistently and the defence making it difficult for Emeralds at the other end.

It was a good all-round team effort, with interceptions being made in all areas of the court.

POM: Alice Alger-Green. Squad: GS Alice Alger-Green, GA Tasha Levy, WA Holly Bar, C Louise Frost, WD Ally Gabell, GD Tina Follett, GK Rhonda Robins.

Somerset Division 3
Taunton Brendon 15, Galmington Newbarn 60

IT did not take long for Brendon to realise this was going to be a tough game, as opponents Newbarn quickly took the lead in the first quarter and set the bar high (14-4).

Despite the hosts’ best efforts defensively, Newbarn continued to increase the gap with excellent transitions and accurate shooting (27-7).

The third quarter followed suit (45-10), and despite Brendon scoring a few extra goals in the final quarter, there was no chance of catching up.

POM: Maddy Borer. Squad: GS Emma Burns, GA Maddy Borer, WA Vicky Woods, C Charlotte O’Leary, WD Millie Jay, GD Trish Hutchinson, GK Libby Binding, sub Beth Lacy-Rigby.

Congratulations to Taunton Netball Club’s players of the month (sponsored by Calibre Autos) - Helen Lucas for September, and Tina Follett and Jade Barnett for October.
