TAUNTON Vivary and Sydenham Gems matched each other goal for goal during the first quarter, with Gems taking a 12-10 lead.

But Vivary capitalised on errors in the second quarter to go 24-21 up.

They continued to work hard in the third period, with Lauren-Jade Griffiths (GD) turning the ball over, as Vivary pulled 11 goals clear.

The final quarter was even, but the hosts kept their rhythm to win.

TONE started strongly against their Bridgwater hosts, gaining a 19-9 lead and maintaining their advantage in the second quarter.

Tone pulled further ahead in the third quarter, and although Saturn fought back in the final period, Tone secured the victory.

MONMOUTH started confidently, with sound defensive play and precision shooting helping them lead 17-3.

They kept it up throughout, to sit 44-16 up at the end of the third period, and showed great determination to complete a big win.

PRIORY fielded a rejigged team and started well, with newcomers Tina (C) and Abbey (WD) getting stuck in.

They entered the second quarter 9-8 down and trailed 25-19 at halfway.

An injury to Mel Reynolds brought Andrea Dyer on, as Priory finished strongly to win the last quarter.

BLACKDOWN took an early lead against a good Venus side, led 25-16 at half time and finished well.

BRENDON got off to a slow start, but gradually closed the gap to 32-29.

GALMINGTON were defeated by a strong Exeter side on Sunday.

The match was almost goal for goal in the first 10 minutes, but errors let Exeter in and they capitalised on Galmington’s mistakes.

The ladies tried to stay in touching distance, but injuries did not help matters.

Trident 34, Mavericks 52

TRIDENT also lost out, though the score did not reflect the game.

Trident were positive and worked hard throughout, but Mavericks broke down their flow.

The Galmington side struggled to get the ball cleanly into the circle, but Sharon Chester, Jaz Chester, Juste Mockeliunaite and Nicola Ferguson were on good form at the other end.

HOVELANDS were no prey for Sharks, as they maintained their unbeaten record.

Despite a new line-up, Hovelands were relentless, with Polly Land and Nicki Berzina on fire.

The defence was tight, with Hannah Symes getting the player of the match nod.

CLAREMONT worked well together, especially given they are a recently reformed team.

The Galmington side had a good game, despite the loss, and their fighting spirit remained on show as they won the last quarter.

PARKFIELD came unstuck against Harlequins of Midsomer Norton on Saturday.

In a close game, Harlequins pulled away in the last quarter to take the win by six goals.

Hannah Squire (GD) had a superb game until she suffered an ankle injury, while youngster Ella Silsby (WD) was a deserved player of the match.

QUEENSWAY were ahead at half time and looking in control, but somehow Kites came back to edge it in the final quarter.

Despite accurate shooting from Lucy Hemmings, Queensway couldn’t quite bring it back, finishing two goals adrift.

NEWBARN’S new-look team were on fire against Keinton Kingfishers.

New club members Helen Pattinson, Bev Boobyer and Kelly Nichols were outstanding on their debuts, helped out by younger players Rosa Allen, Fern Morse, Jacqui Manning, Paige Hadley and Tash Snow.

Under-16 talent Fern Morse took home player of the match.

GALMINGTON Under-16s came up against a strong Taunton side at Vale.

Achieving half of Taunton’s score, the girls battled hard, with standout displays from Bea Reynard (GD) and player of the match Fern Morse (WA).

The Under-14s, they were excited for Sunday’s junior tournament in Street.

The A team took on Wells and showed great skill, team work and humility in their convincing 31-13 victory.

The B team lined up against Yeovil and did the club equally proud as they came from 10-8 down to win 14-12.

Galmington Under-12s, meanwhile, continued their winning form by beating Bridgwater 15-7.
