THE Ladies at Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club entered into the festive spirit big time on Tuesday when they played the Christmas Bowmaker.

The competition was a 12-Hole Stableford with two scores to count on the par fours and fives and three scores on the par threes.

A bonus “Christmas Present” of five points for holing a shot from off the green, and a bonus “Stocking Filler” of three points for holing a single putt on the green rewarded tactical play.

To round off the day’s proceedings the ladies returned to the clubhouse to enjoy traditional mulled wine and mince pies.

At the end of the competition it was Jane Ledsham, Marlene Ewens and Berni Hatcher with an impressive 110 points who emerged as the clear winners.

Second place was claimed by Jeanne Leader, Margaret Nation and Judy Powell with 89 points, while third went to Mary Guy, Margaret Blackaller and Maureen Hailes with 84.

The winner of the Fancy Golf Bag competition was former Ladies Captain Jill Paul.
