TAUNTON swimming prospect Jacob Greenow has completed a national swimming championship double.

In November, Greenow competed in the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) Short Course Championships in Sheffield, where he won the 400m individual medley title.

He returned to the city at the weekend to compete alongside many of Britain’s top swimmers in the Long Course Championships (50m pool).

Greenow, who is 19 and left Queen’s College last summer, competed in three individual events and in the men’s medley relay, swimming the breaststroke leg.

He comfortably took gold in the 400m IM, winning by five-and-a-half seconds, and this was backed up by a bronze in the 200m IM.

He also came eighth in the 200m breaststroke and helped his University of Bath teammates to fourth place in the relay.

Last year, he won two golds and a silver at the British Summer Nationals and was also part of the Great Britain team at the European Junior Championships in Israel.

Greenow has also represented England in various meets across Europe in the past, with these latest achievements giving further evidence of the potential of the Taunton swimmer.

He is currently studying Natural Sciences at the University of Bath.
