Anyone who followed the Gazette’s tips with an each-way bet yesterday would have had a lovely old time, with a place in each of the seven races.

There was only one winner among that lot, in the shape of Tiger Roll (13/2, 4.10), but we will aim to replicate the consistent picks this afternoon…

1.30 – JLT Novices' Chase – How about a bit of Somerset-based success to start the day? Modus (10/1), trained by Paul Nicholls at Ditcheat, has a good record at Cheltenham – including a runners-up spot in the 2015 Champion Bumper – and is well placed to take advantage of favourite Invitation Only (11/4) no longer being ridden by the injured Ruby Walsh.

2.10 – Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle – An open race this one, with 24 runners and a 13/2 favourite.

I like the look of Forza Milan (14/1), who goes well over this distance and has consistently placed of late, while for a Somerset-inspired each-way shout David Pipe’s Dell’ Arca (40/1) is attractively priced.

2.50 – Ryanair Chase – By contrast, this is a much more closed shop with Un De Sceaux (11/10) the big favourite to lead home a field of just six following Douvan's withdrawal.

But sometimes heart has to rule head, and who wouldn’t love to see Cue Card (5/1) roll back the years and provide a last hurrah at the age of 12 – trained in Sherborne by Colin Tizzard, this would also be one for the Westcountry to celebrate.

3.30 – Stayers' Hurdle – A 17-strong field for what could be one of the races of the festival.

Uknowhatimeanharry (15/2) was favourite in this one last year and ended up third, but on form he certainly has the capability to fare better this year and could topple the favourite Sam Spinner.

Those looking for places could consider The Worlds End (28/1) who, though failing to kick on as much as expected since, showed promise at Cheltenham last year.

4.10 – Stable Plate Handicap Chase – The loyalty pick worked yesterday with Tiger Roll, so up steps Guitar Pete (20/1) to take on that mantle today.

Mercian Prince (25/1) has won over this distance in the past and is worth a look as an each-way shout.

4.50 – Stud Mares' Novices' Hurdle Laurina (8/13) remains the odds-on favourite despite the lack of Ruby Walsh, but now could be the time for Cap Soleil (10/1) to prove she can mix it with the big guns and build on the promise shown in 2017 – namely three wins from three in bumpers.

5.30 – Challenge Cup Amateur Riders' Handicap Chase – A large field of 23 round off the day’s action, with a couple of tempting prices among the field.

Of those, the stamina of Final Nudge (16/1) makes the odds look too good to turn down while the eager Arctic Gold (50/1) is likely to fly out the traps – could the Nigel Twiston-Davies trained horse hold off the competition until the end?

Best of luck today and do let us know how your Festival week is going on our Twitter and Facebook pages.

See you tomorrow for Gold Cup day…
