TAUNTON boxing prospect Pawel Augustynik defends his perfect record tomorrow (Friday) night at Ashton Gate on a card headlined by Commonwealth super bantamweight champion Ash Lane, writes Marc Gatford.

Augustynik clashes with fellow Pole Kamil Al Temimi three months on from scoring the first stoppage of his career against journeyman Przemyslaw Binienda.

Augustynik, 22, said: “It felt good to get Binienda out of there last time out.

“It shows I am developing and the work in the gym is paying off, but my focus is on the next one.

“My preparation has gone really well with my new strength and conditioning schedule.”

Alongside a refined training routine, Augustynik’s manager Chris Sanigar raised the quality of sparring by inviting undefeated English super middleweight champion Darryl Williams into camp.

Sanigar said: “I wanted better sparring now he’s moving up.

“And it was exactly that. It was the hardest spar Pawel’s had, and I think it opened his eyes a bit.

“He knows exactly what it’s all about now and he did very well. He’s a good prospect.”

Bristol boxing icon, Sanigar - who was cutman for Chris Eubank Jnr during his points defeat to WBA world champion George Groves - also hinted a Taunton boxing show could be in the pipeline.

He said: “I’m sure there will be a Taunton show at some point. That is the plan.

“We’d like to put on a night of boxing if the venue’s right because he does very well with tickets.”

Augustinyk concluded: “Thank you to Growth Technology, The Inner Garden, Activate Fitness, P&P Autos, The Victoria Gate, GC Tiling Specialist, Rest & Relax - Sports & Holistic Massage Therapies for their continued support.”
