IT seems some things will not stop the All Blacks from running, even a thick layer of snow.

Many from Taunton Running Club who are training for the spring half marathons and marathons, braved the weather for their usual Sunday distance run.

Even more remarkable were the two All Blacks who made it down to Seaton to take part in the Axe Valley Runners ‘Grizzly’ - a tough, hilly, off-road run with an added snowstorm for luck.

Matt Pease and Chris Poole, two very experienced Taunton Running Club members, took part and crossed the finish line together in 1:43:45.

The Taunton Running Club Couch to 5K programme starts on Tuesday (March 27) - and there’s room for a few more yet.

This is a free programme to ease the community in to running, stay fit and healthy.

THE athletes of Running Forever had many of their plans thwarted by the weekend weather.

However, Jo Doodson Hall took part in the Hampton Court Palace Half on Sunday, which was one of the few events to go ahead.

On a freezing and snowy course, she slid over the line in 1.56.

The Axe Valley Runners took the tough decision to cancel their iconic Grizzly race on Sunday, substituting a shortened Cub course for all entrants, which avoided the most challenging parts of the terrain.

The (Polar Bear) Cub was hunted down by Andy Staples and Emma Kiernan (both with 1.16 finishes), Sam Wharton (1.32), Chris Larcombe (1.33) and Lara Bolduc (2.11).

This weekend’s parkrun tourists made their way to Eastleigh, Minehead, Killerton, Wotton, Burnham and Bideford.

Eleven hardy members splashed and slid their way round Longrun Meadon with Ali Wasey completing her 150th parkrun.

Hannah Taunton took her running shoes to Dubai where the sun was shining.

Taking part in the Fazzi International Championships, Taunton, in her TAC colours, took gold in both the 1500m and 800m in her T20 category of this Para Athletics Grand Prix.

Not content with the medals, Hannah also smashed her PB in the 1500m.
All that and a sun tan, too!

Taunton received great support from mum and dad, Gill and Hugh.

BRAVING the Beast from the East II last Saturday, Hydro Harriers’ Rowland Lyons improved to complete Valentine’s (Ilford) in 26mins 10secs - 42nd out of 128 frozen runners.
