THE Captains’ Drive-In at Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club attracted 37 teams to the much-anticipated event.

At the end of a very competitive day it was Andy Rhodes, Steve Olive, Clive Puttock and Duncan Farrow who were the winners on countback with net 48.8 from second-placed Kelvin Oxley, Steve Coomber, John Snell and Chris Pitman.

Stuart Ling, Jim Nation, Martin Hogan and Andy Sutton were in third with 49, while fourth were Rob Darvell, Marion Mittermaier, Patrick Simpson and Paul Gough on 49.8.

T&P Ladies enjoyed better weather on Tuesday and took advantage by playing a ‘medal comp’ over the shortened course.

Mary Guy won the day with 69.5, just ahead of second-placed Anne George, who carded 70.

Third went to Katie Guest with 70.5 while fourth spot was claimed by Lennox Heath with 72.

Three twos were recorded during the round - by Patsy Morgan, Gill Jowett and Lyn Gridley.

T&P Seniors matches have suffered at the hands of the weather and only the first of the opening five matches being played.

Saturday sees the T&P Junior Captains Texas Scramble taking place when 40 teams of four will be competing with a start time of 7.10am.

Some of the proceeds from the entrance fee will be going to support the juniors during the year for coaching, competition entry and other activities.

There will also be a putting competition, a cake stall on the ninth tee and drinks on the 13th.

STEVE Barham has won Division 1 of the Oake Manor Golf Club Men’s Saturday Stableford with 39 points.

James Ward came second with 36, Adam Stoneman third, also with 36, and Ricky Selway fourth with 35.

Raymond Dakers won Division 2 with 35, with Darren Blows second, Doug Yearsley third, and Roger Goodman fourth (all on 32).

Mark Tydings won Division 1 of the Sunday Stableford with 34, Paul Flay (34) was second on countback, Robert Urmann was third with 32 and Richard Taylor fourth (32).

In Division 2, Mathew Croker came first with 37, Roger Goodman second with 36, Alan Bovey third with 34 and Christopher Hayfield (34) fourth.

The Ladies’ Sunday Medal Competition was very close with the top three players all scoring nett 86.

On countback, Suzanne Reed came first, Natalie Lawrence second and Jane Clist third.

Bev King won the Ladies’ Easter Egg Stableford Competition with 28 points; second in Division 1 was Rosemary Webber (24), Kathy Salway (24) third and Jenny Swann (23) fourth.

Annie Reid (26) won Division 2, pipping Karen MacKenzie (26), with Jeanette Jones and Suzie Pitt (both 23) third and fourth.
