TAUNTON-BORN shooting star David Luckman has retained his Queen's Prize Pairs title at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Alongside England team-mate Parag Patel, 41-year-old Luckman claimed gold ahead of Wales and Scotland, having been third heading into the final distance.
The event - held over two days - sees competitors fire at targets over five distances, with the English pair leading after day one.
Afterwards, the pair told the media: “It’s the hardest it’s been all week. We lost more points that we were expecting to.
“It was much harder than it was as we were behind going in to 1000 yards but we stuck to the game plan and get through our processes and the result was then inevitable – so we’re really pleased with that.
“We’ve been competing as pair for many years and competing as a pair for many years so that really helps; knowing body language and things like that is really important.”
Luckman and Patel won gold at Glasgow 2014, with Luckman also winning the Queen's Prize Individual event four years ago.
Tomorrow he will attempt to retain that title as well, with the first day of the individual competition getting underway at 1am UK time.
