TAUNTON Civil Service men’s 1sts rounded off their season with a 3-2 away win at Marlborough A on Saturday.

But they finished below their opponents in the table on goal difference, leaving them second bottom in GoCrea8 Central 2.

As for the women’s hockey season, it is coming to an end in dribs and drabs due to the unhelpful winter weather.

Civil Service ladies 1sts had already finished their season, winning Sedgemoor Division 1, leaving the 2nds to round things off.

They won 2-1 at home to Bridgwater 2nds on Saturday, thanks to goals from Freya Williams and Poppy Pring, to sit seventh out of 11 teams in Sedgemoor Division 2.

The lowest they can finish is eighth, as Winscombe 4ths have a game still to play.

TAUNTON Vale ladies 1sts complete their Premier Division 1 season this Sunday (1pm start), away to second-bottom Yate.

Seventh-placed Vale could finish sixth... but only with a 14-goal win, as that would move them above Firebrands on goal difference.

In the Central Division, Vale 3rds were condemned to finish bottom of the Central Division with an 8-1 loss at Old Bristolians on Saturday.

The 2nd XI ended on a high, beating third-placed Tavistock 2-1 to finish seventh in the South Division.

Vale 4ths moved up a place in Sedgemoor Division 1, beating basement side Weston-super-Mare 2nds to sit third from bottom, while the 5ths beat Minehead 2nds 5-2 in Sedgemoor Division 2.
