DESPITE the atrocious weather, the Bank Holiday Competitions at Oake Manor Golf Club were played thanks to the hard work of head greenkeeper James Williams and his team keeping the course playable.

Kobe Adams, playing off scratch handicap, won the Good Friday Stableford with an amazing 39 points, with Daniel Bennett second in Division 1 on 34. 

Christopher Dubery won Division 2 with 30, Roger Goodman was second on 28 and Raymond Dakers third with 27.

Mark Tydings won Division 1 of the Easter Sunday Medal with a nett 71, Richard Shepherd was second also with nett 71 and Thomas Bordier was third on nett 73.

Alan Bowey claimed Division 2 with nett 74, Christopher Dubery was second with nett 75 and Chris Pratt third also nett 75.

Lena Holland won the Ladies’ stableford competition on Tuesday with 28 points, Rosemary Webber came second with 26, Ladies’ captain Ros Shepherd was third with 25 and Janet Howe fourth, also 25.

TAUNTON & Pickeridge held their Junior Captain’s Texas Scramble on Saturday when 41 teams of four supported the club’s junior development programme.

The competition was played on a full course, even though there was a 40-minute delay due to a heavy downpour.

At the end it was Paul Laming, Mike Liddle, Phil Painter and Cliff Phur who claimed top spot with nett 51, closely followed by Martin Hogan, Paddy Farrell, Stuart Ling and Jim Nation with 51.2.

Robert Hutchinson, Gary Nightingill, Keith Rees and Robert Criddle were third with 51.6, just ahead of fourth-placed Rob Darvel, Marion Mittermaier, Val and Graham Hayward with 51.8.

The Juniors also ran a Putting Competition which raised just over £100 and was won by Andy Willett. Anna Rees was second and Kevin Parker third. Cake sales on the day raised an additional £50 towards the funds.
