THE Ladies’ Section at Taunton & Pickeridge held their rearranged Spring Meeting Stableford on Tuesday when, although the weather was cold, at least it remained dry.

The Silver Division was won by Rosie Spragg with 36 points. Two players returned with 30 points but, after countback, it was Carole Rotheram who was second just ahead of Mary Guy.

In the Bronze Division, Margaret Blackaller claimed the spoils with 37 points. Marlene Ewens (34) was second ahead of Jackie Pike on countback.

The winner of the Hewlett Rose Bowl for best Silver Division score was Rosie Spragg, and the Harkness Rose Bowl for best Bronze Division score was won by Margaret Blackaller.

The Veteran Ladies’ competition was won by Anna Rees with 31 points, Carolynne Fawcett was second on countback and Vicki Davies third after both scored 30.

The Nearest the Pin on the 16th hole (Silver Division) was won by Gill Shire, while in the Bronze Division on the sixth hole it was Jackie Pike.

The Nearest the Pin on the second hole for all players went to Corinne Lyon.

Twos were recorded by Gill Shire, Corinne Lyon, Margaret Blackaller and Jill Paul.

After five postponed matches against other clubs, T&P Seniors played their second match of the season at Oake Manor, when despite the pouring pouring rain T&P ran out winners 3½-2½.

The Seniors managed to play against Tiverton away on the April 17, losing 4-2, but came good on April 24 away to Mendip Spring, winning 3½-2½.

In between the matches there were two Senior club competitions. The Baffie, played on April 19, was won by Mike Crump with 40 points, Iain Brown was second with 37 and Paul Heston third with 36.

The second club competition was the Terry Mockridge competition, when Peter Cooke ran out the winner on 40 points, Tony Humphreys was second with 37 and Bill Maginn third with 35.

On Sunday, T&P hosted the Somerset Junior Championships over 36 holes and involved the 32 top Under-18 players.

Four juniors from T&P, all with single-figure handicaps, took part, two of which - Bailey Langford and Alfie Jubb - achieved top 10 finishes.

The Junior Club Night competition on Monday was won by Dillon Watts on five-under, ahead of Bailey Langford, Kyle Miller and Charlie Hooper.

IAN Shapter won Division 1 of the Saturday Stableford at Oake Manor Golf Club with 38 points, ahead of Rob Larcombe on 36 points.

Past club captain Nigel Jackson was third and Ian Williams fourth - both players also scoring 36.

Richard Crouch won Division 2 with 37 points, Alan Markham was second on 36, Doug Yearsley third, also with 36, and Mukhtar Zaman was fourth with 35.

Kobe Adams won the Midweek Stableford competition by scoring 36 points, Jason Brock was second with 35, Jack Flemming came third, also on 35, and Daniel Green was fourth with 33.

Ginny Farnworth-Smith won the Ladies Veterans Trophy, by clinching Division 2 of the Ladies Tuesday Stableford with 34 points.

Second in Division 2 was Sandra Lawrence with 32 points, Jane King came third with 31 and ladies captain Ros Shepherd was fourth, also with 31.

Janet Howe won Division 1 with 32 points, Jenny Musgrove was second with 29, and Cathy Sheppard third with 27.
