Minehead coach Ross Cox this week called on his side to match their efforts of last season and claim fourth place in the Tribute Premier league.

The Barbarians lie sixth in the table at the half-way stage but Cox believes the talent is there to climb the table.

And he called on his players to show greater commitment to training in a bid to improve the side’s teamwork.

He said: “We are very much a side of individuals and need to start playing more as a team.

“But the only way we can do that is to get more players on the training ground.”

One player Minehead have missed this season is back Jack Claydon who scored 40 tries last season before trying his luck at Taunton.

“We are struggling to score tries,” admitted Cox.

Minehead return to action on Saturday when they visit Chew Valley, currently fourth in the table.

The first XV are without a game the following week which will give Cox a chance to have a good look at the club’s second string.
