TAUNTON Titans head coach Tony Yapp heaped praise on his forward pack after they put in a dominant display during Saturday’s 25-23 bonus-point win at Chinnor.

The pack accounted for all four of Titans' tries, with Duncan Hales, Jon Gatford, Barrie-John Chapman and George Cooper all crossing – and Yapp was pleased to see his side triumph in ‘tricky conditions’.

He said: “Chinnor away was just what we expected - they had lots of confidence after winning away at Canterbury and fresh after a week break, despite being near the foot of the table, we knew they would be a tough nut to crack.

“Training last week was tough and very detailed to make sure mentally it wasn't a game we would be taking lightly.

“Chinnor has been a bit of a bogey team for us over the last few seasons, and there were times in the game when we could have easily slipped behind and not recovered to get the win, so we were very pleased to see out the game and get another five points on the road.

“A special mention must go to the forward pack, who again proved to be one of the best in the league, dominating set piece in tricky conditions and scoring all our four tries, something I'm expecting Chris Brown to remind me of this week.”

The Titans host old rivals Redruth this Saturday in what is always a very physical and entertaining game.

The Titans will have a large squad to pick from with more long term injuries back in training and some new but familiar faces returning.

As well as Jamie Fleming back in the mix after his broken leg during pre-season, Ratu ‘Toots’ Vakalutukali is back running around and back-rowers James Newsam and Arron Gibbs are also expected back soon.

Also making a return to Hyde Park is prop Alec Chase, who left several seasons ago to play for his local club Hornets.
