HEAD coach Tony Yapp has challenged his Titans side to build on Saturday’s memorable bonus-point win at promotion rivals Bishops Stortford, when Chinnor come calling this weekend.

Titans became the first side to do the double over Bishops in National Two South, while taking their 12-month unbeaten home record in the process – and Yapp said the win will ‘live long in the memory’.

“There are some games that you are involved in that tend to live long in the memory and Saturday against Bishops was one of those games,” he said.

“Sat one place above us in the league and having just beaten Cambridge and Old Albanians, Bishops had great form going into this league game - add to this they've not lost at home in over a year and our bus leaving at 6:30am, we knew it was going to be a tough day.

“This was a great win for us on the road and although the players put in a great shift out on the field on Saturday, it was great to see the preparation amongst the coaches and back room staff that was put in place was there for all to see.

“I feel one area we are improving as a team is in the fact that we can put together a game plan based on who we are playing and follow it more closely and with better accuracy, and with this we are getting great reward.

“To get big wins like this does take a big effort from everyone involved on and off the field, even the players that are injured are working hard to help out, by putting in a lot of time and effort doing video analysis to work out the strengths and weaknesses of our opposition.

“This was a great win for us, but we are faced with a big challenge again on the weekend against a much improved Chinnor side and Saturday’s win won't count for a great deal if we don't put in the same amount of work in this week and get the same result again.”

Chinnor, at present, are at the wrong end of the table, sitting in the third relegation spot in 14th place.

Having only won four games all season by the middle of January, they have found form at the right time, winning three out of the last four games, including beaten second-place Old Albanian’s away two weeks ago.

In their ranks, Chinnor have one of South West rugby’s favourites in former Exeter Chiefs, Bristol and Cornish Pirate player Junior Fatilofa, who scored a superb try against the Titans earlier in the season when the Titans scraped to a 25-23 win.

Titans have no extra injury worries heading into the game.
