SATURDAY was probably the worst performance by a Titans team at home in a long time and shows the unpredictability of the league, says Tony Yapp...

We train hard, really hard, so we can base our performances on work rate and commitment which I’m afraid we lacked on Saturday.

As coaches we have no issue with losing games if we are committed and give it our best efforts, it’s a slightly different story when we lack that commitment and work rate and that is why we were so disappointed after the final whistle.

It’s probably wrong to point the finger at everyone as there were some very good performances - up front, Dan Frost and Ben Oliphant-Thompson both played very well - and Stu Percey again didn’t lack any effort but too many forwards went missing.

The backs lacked a constant supply of ball so lacked the opportunity to play as much as they would have liked.

The good thing with this league is the next game comes around really quick and, with it being Bishops away, it gives some of the players the chance to make up for the performance on Saturday.

Forward’s coach Chris Brown said:

Saturday was a tough fixture where we failed to get any rhythm.

We allowed Clifton to establish gain line supremacy and struggled to keep possession and in the end we paid the penalty for not winning the collisions.

I felt we did not deserve to take the spoils. It was an uncharacteristic performance from us and I feel that we need to do better.

Clifton kept themselves in the game and waited until the last 10 minutes before raising the pace, before we realised it was too late to do anything.
‘We need to raise our game significantly, as the challenge of going to Bishops this weekend and getting a result up there is a tough one.

However, I am confident we have enough energy in the tank and need to show what we are made off.
