Taunton Under-17s 53, Wimborne Under-17s 3
TAUNTON RFC Under-17s were crowned South West Regional Bowl winners on Sunday after an emphatic win against Wimborne at the regional finals day hosted by Melksham Rugby Club.
A hat-trick of tries from Will Perry, two from Vinny Gordon and one apiece from Callum Lane, Nahum Merrigan and Mitch Baker powered Taunton ahead and a superb defensive effort held Wimborne to a single penalty kick.
Despite the scoreline, Wimborne were very competitive throughout but were simply overcome by some scintillating, expansive rugby from their opponents.
Taunton, who secured a place in this Regional Final with an impressive 62-3 win in the previous round away at North Dorset, now progress to the National Bowl Semi-Finals to face Southend at Henley Rugby Club on Sunday, April 9.
