TAUNTON Warriors face a winner takes it all title showdown on Saturday as they face second-placed Bournemouth for the right to call themselves South West Pilot League Champions.

The club’s second string have enjoyed an excellent campaign, winning 11 of their 13 matches, and go into the weekend’s clash four points ahead of their opponents.

The match kicks off at 2.30pm at Hyde Park, half an hour before Taunton Titans host Redruth in the first of three tough fixtures the Titans have remaining against three in-form teams.

The Cornish side have only lost three games out of the last 12 and they were against the top two teams Bishop’s Stortford, Old Elthamians as well as Cinderford away.

If you then add on to this fine form the revenge they are no doubt after for the Titans win at the Rec in December plus the little fact of South West bragging rights to see who finished highest in the National 2 South and this game has the hallmark of being a battle royal.

Last time out the Titans won for the first time at the Rec by 22 points to 18, with Dan Frost getting two tries, Lewis Webb scoring in the famous Hell Fire Corner and Gary Kingdom adding the rest of the points with two conversions and a penalty.

The points from Redruth came from a try for club stalwart Chris Fuca, a penalty try from a scrum offence with the boot of scrum half Angus Taylor kicking the rest.

With Redruth will be backed by vociferous travelling support which will create a great atmosphere and add some spice to the game, so whether this will be something the players will either relish or hinder only time will tell.

The Titans will continue to try some of the fringe players out for the rest of the season and with several players nursing bumps and bruises the squad’s mentality will be tested once again with the winners probably going to the team that want it the most.

The club predict that Hyde Park is going to be busy this Saturday with nearly a full house for the pre match meal and the aforementioned Warriors match so there should be lots of support for all four teams in action - make sure you get yourself to the club early!
