TAUNTON Titans are in unfamiliar Sunday action this weekend as they travel for a re-arranged match at Henley Hawks.

The game was due to be played a fortnight ago before the Beast from the East put paid to that, and was then moved from the Saturday to Sunday of this weekend.

Taunton will travel with revenge on their minds having seen their nine-match winning streak at the start of the season ended by the Hawks at Hyde Park, with the visitors running out 42-31 winners.

The Titans will be without James Kenny and Paul Davis, both of whom have been named in the Exeter Chiefs squad for Sunday's Anglo-Welsh Cup final against Bath at Kingsholm.

The pair, along with former Taunton colt Joe Snow, have been named among the replacements.

TITANS trio Isaac Dalton, Nick Mason and Connor Baker played their last matches of the season for the club last Saturday ahead of their trip to play domestic rugby in New Zealand.

Front row pair Dalton and Baker, along with centre and captain Mason, will be representing Carterton RFC - in the Wellington district on the North Island - and spoke to the County Gazette about their upcoming adventure.

Mason said: “I had an offer to go out there last season but it was too short notice.

“Fortunately they kept in touch and needed a couple of front rows, so these guys were perfect and I’m able to tag along, which is great.”

Baker added: “I think it will be a seriously good standard and will raise my game.

“I’m hoping to work on my running game as we don’t get much chance to do that over here, but it’s more expansive over there.”

His fellow prop Dalton agreed, saying: “Us props aren’t known for our running so it would be good to add that to our game.

“I’m looking forward to it but I’m a bit nervous - New Zealand is the number one country for rugby in the world.”

All three expect to return to Titans duty in August, though the trio may have the opportunity to stay until October if they impress enough to be picked up by a provincial team.
