Henley Hawks 17, Taunton Titans 20

GARY Kingdom held his nerve to slot over a penalty with the last kick of the game and seal an excellent away victory for Taunton Titans at Henley Hawks on Good Friday.

Facing the team that ended their 100% start to the season back in November, Taunton were keen for revenge but conceded the first try when a lapse in concentration saw Connor Hayhow go under the posts for a converted score.

The visitors responded strongly and piled on the pressure, for which they were rewarded when back row forward Ben Oliphant-Thompson went over for a try which Kingdom - playing at fly-half for the afternoon instead of full-back - converted.

The Hawks restored their lead when Hayhow scored his second of the day through a fine individual effort, with the extras added before a penalty stretched the advantage to 17-7.

Crucially, Taunton were able to reduce the arrears on the stroke of half-time through the same duo as their first try, with Oliphant-Thompson touching down and Kingdom slotting the conversion.

Kingdom levelled it up with a penalty in the second half before being handed the chance to win it right at the death.

That he did, slotting the penalty through the posts to seal a hard-earned victory for the Titans which sets them up nicely for a difficult double-header against Chinnor and Cinderford in the next fortnight.
