WELLINGTON Under-18s entertain Chew Valley in the Somerset Cup this evening (7.15pm).

Last weekend they lost 33-14 to Nailsea and Backwell in the Somerset league.

The score might suggest top-of-the-table clash was a one sided affair, however in reality this was far from the truth.

The game was finally balanced going into the last ten mins between two evenly matched teams, the result could have gone either way.

The turning point came when the official, who had a fine game it must be said, failed to see a Nailsea player loitering blatantly offside deep inside Nailsea’s half which resulted in an interception and a 70m converted try for the home side.

This score ultimately broke the Red & Blacks resolve and the game as a contest.

Wellington were now throughly demoralised and Nailsea took full advantage to run in another late converted try.

The Red & Blacks’ tries came from Joe Coppin and Liam Phillips with Tom Hawkins converted both.
