Wellington’S second team continued their fine run of improved form with this stirring win against promotion chasers Keynsham who were held at bay with a solid Red and Black wall.

Mark Parsons slotted home a penalty for Wellington for the first points of the day.

This was followed with another immediately from the restart as Wellington swept forward again with flanker Quinton Taylor prominent in the move.

Wellington extended their lead through a team try as they took a lineout through the excellent efforts of second row Shane Jordan, recycled possession and spun the ball along the threes for wing Jack Spurway to go past his opposite number for the opening try of the game. Parsons was unable to convert.

Keynsham got back into the game and moved to within a point of Wellington but the home side held on for victory.

The win confirms Wellington’s position in Somerset One next season.
