Minehead’s aspirations for a top four spot in the Tribute Somerset Premier league have received a double blow.

On Saturday they lost 13-6 at Chew Valley while influential back row forward Robert Webber is leaving for Australia.

Coach Ross Cox said: “Rob is an important player for us and will be missed.”

Cox was delighted with his side’s defending on Saturday saying it was the best they had performed all year in that department.

But his side also failed to score a try and Minehead’s inability to put points on the board is something Cox is keen to address.

He added: “You can defend as well as you like but if you are not putting points on the board you are not going to win games.”

The only scores on Saturday were two penalties from fly-half Dan Westcott.

The Barbarians clearly miss Jack Claydon who scored 40 tries for the club last season before switching to Taunton.
