SOMERSET lost out to Northants in a rain-shortened match at Taunton's County Ground today (Sunday, June 24).
A full house watched Somerset smash their way to 200-7 after 20 overs, with Marcus Trescothick top scoring with 76 runs.
Cameron White made 41 but Justin Langer went early on for 15.
The total looked like it should be enough but as rain clouds gathered after the interval, Northants were fast out of the blocks, blasting their way to 92-1 from seven overs.
Andrew Caddick endured another miserable Twenty20 afternoon getting hit for 33 runs in the fifth over.
Then the heavens opened and Northants were set a revised Duckworth-Lewis target.

After a 15-minute rain break, both teams emerged for all of one minute before another downpour and grey clouds in all directions brought the game to a premature close, and a Northants win by 24 runs.
