SOMERSET wicket-keeper Steve Davies admitted that he was pleased to get off to a good start for his new side after scoring an unbeaten 70 on his unofficial debut.
Davies, whose fluent second innings knock came from just 45 balls, said: “It was nice to get some time out in the middle and towards the end I was feeling pretty good and hitting the ball well which was nice.

“I think today has been a pretty good one for us as a team and we bowled a lot better today than we did last night.
"Our lengths were a lot better and everyone was hitting the gloves a little bit harder.
“It has been a good work out for everyone, and personally it was good to get a few runs."
The former Surrey man scored over 100 runs in the match overall, having chipped in with a handy 34 in the first innings as he added 109 for the fifth wicket with Peter Trego.
Davies also contributed with the gloves, taking a catch to dismiss his counterpart Phil Mustard.
“I haven't kept wicket for a little while so I was getting used to it again," he said.
"I am really looking forward to doing a season of it and this was a pretty decent start.
Talking about his two century partnerships in the game, Davies said: “Both Tregs and Hildy struck it beautifully, but Tregs seemed to find the middle of the bat with every shot which was a pleasure to watch from the other end, and Hildy showed his class today.
“I was pretty unlucky to get out in the first innings and lost my way a bit but today at 17 for 3 I thought I would try to be positive and put pressure back on them and it worked with a nice partnership with Hildy."
Davies has been rested for the one-day game against the same opponents today (Wednesday), with his namesake Ryan given an opportunity to impress, but the new arrival will be back behind the stumps for the two-day match with Glamorgan on Thursday.
