SOMERSET bowlers Dom Bess, Jack Leach and Jamie Overton have been named in the England Lions squad for a four-day fixture against South Africa A later this month.

The news comes a day after Craig Overton was selected for the England senior side to face South Africa in a three-match T20 series.

Leach was picked for the Lions' last four-day game against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla in February, while Overton is set to make his first Lions appearance since the winter of 2015-16.

Teenage off-spinner Bess is in line to make his Lions debut, as reward for his recent form, which has seen him take four five-wicket hauls in five County Championship matches.

Somerset director of cricket Matt Maynard said: "I’m delighted for the three boys.

"They are outstanding cricketers who have all the attributes needed to go on and play for their country.

"I’m sure they will show the selectors exactly what they can do during this match against South Africa A, and there is no doubt that they have bright futures ahead of them."

The full Lions squad:
Keaton Jennings (Durham, capt), Mark Stoneman (Surrey), Haseeb Hameed (Lancashire), Nick Gubbins (Middlesex), Dan Lawrence (Essex), Ben Foakes (Surrey, wk), Sam Curran (Surrey), Jamie Overton (Somerset), Tom Helm (Middlesex), Jamie Porter (Essex), George Garton (Sussex), Jack Leach (Somerset), Dominic Bess (Somerset)

The match will take place at the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, from June 21 to June 24 - finishing two days before Somerset's next County Championship fixture, away to Hampshire (June 26-29).

A separate Lions squad will be named next week for a three-day match against the senior South Africa tourists, in Worcester from June 29.
