SOMERSET spin bowler Jack Leach has been named in a 12-man squad for England's warm-up match with a Cricket Australia XI, ahead of the third Ashes Test.

The two-day match starts on Saturday, December 9 at Richardson Park, Perth, and Moeen Ali will captain England.

Ali is the only member of the England XI that played the second Ashes Test in Adelaide to feature this weekend.

That means Craig Overton - who took four wickets and scored 48 runs in Adelaide - earns a rest, suggesting that he may have done enough to retain his place for the third Test in Perth.

Two of his rivals for a pace bowling spot in the team - Jake Ball and Mark Wood - have been selected, along with spinners Leach and Mason Crane.

Leach is one of six players from the England Lions, who have been based in Perth at a training camp, to be called up for the warm-up game.

He bowled the first over and was largely impressive as the Lions claimed a nine-wicket win over Western Australia XI in their first of four T20 matches.

Somerset team-mate also Dom Bess performed well, conceding only 15 runs from three overs.
