MARCUS Trescothick has been sidelined for at least six weeks after injuring his ankle against Nottinghamshire.

The Cidermen skipper fell on his right ankle during their LV County Championship draw at Trent Bridge last weekend.

He will now undergo surgery and will be out for at least six weeks.

The injury comes as a blow with Somerset continuing their chase a first ever County Championship crown when they entertain Lancashire at Taunton from Thursday (April 26).

James Hildreth will continue in the role of captain after stepping in for Trescothick at the weekend.
