TITANS’ pulsating 25-23 victory over Lydney on Saturday marks another small step in the development of the team coached by Tony Yapp.

It was a dramatic encounter, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats right up to the final nerve racking second.

Yapp said: “We’ve been together just four months after introducing 19 new players to a young squad and there are loads of positives to be taken from a hard-fought game “We are still making unnecessary errors, but our mistakes are getting fewer as team cohesion develops.

“Building the Titans into an indomitable force was always going to be a marathon and not a sprint.

“We face Launceston this week who held Hartpury to a draw on their turf. It’s going to a be tough, but rest assured, all at the Titans continue to work hard and we will be ready for our trip to the Duchy.”

The return of Chris Bentley to the second row will bring much needed experience to Yapp’s young side and last week’s man-of-the-match, Joel Conlon, will continue his rehabilitation after injury.

Jack Conway is expected to start at No9 as livewire Mike Pope battles for fitness. Titans next home game is a Somerset County Cup clash against Bath University at Hyde Park, on Saturday, November 3, (kick-off 3pm).
