Taunton Titans have been regrouping this week ahead of tomorrow's National League, division two match with Barking at Hyde Park.

The Essex side has made wholesale changes in recent weeks by releasing all of the previous staff from their duties and apointing Nick Warren as director of rugby.

Warren picked up two bonus points in his first game at the helm in a 40-33 defeat to Clifton.

An improving Barking performance against the Bristol side sets the red lights flashing for the Titans as Barking will certainly be targeting Saturday’s game to kick-start their season with a win in Taunton.

The Titans will be hoping to get back to winning ways themselves following last weekend’s narrow 30-27 defeat at Bournemouth Lions.

They will take into the Barking clash much optimism, however, as they went into the final quarter of the game with the Lions trailing by 22 points and reduced to 13 men with Jemba Bull getting red-carded and Sam Prior receiving a yellow.

But the players still on the pitch put on a terrific show and came so close to gaining an unexpected win.

Taunton know, however, that if they lose against Barking they will be facing another relegation battle going into the Christmas period with four tough fixtures culminating with the visit of high-flying Hartpury on December 22.

Titans’ coach Tony Yapp said: “We really need to beat Barking to keep us above the relegation dog fight.

“A big home crowd is so often the 16th man that can be so important to player confidence. I ask the fans to turn out in force on Saturday and get behind us.”

The match with Barking kicks-off at 3pm.
