Taunton Racecourse continued their trend of attracting larger crowds than last year when they hosted their second meeting of the season last Thursday.

Numbers through the gate showed an increase on the same meeting in 2011, as did the opening meeting of the season and the racing entertainment on offer was equally thrilling, including a quick double by champion jockey A.P.McCoy.

The Orchard Portman course is set to race again on Thursday, November 29 when the seven race card, which gets underway at 12.35pm, has a very generous £35,000 on offer in prize money.

The whole card is sponsored by Betfair with the feature race being a Class 3 Beginners Chase at 1.35pm which boasts prizes worth £9,000.

Taunton host two meetings in December - on Thursday 13 and Sunday 30.

They open their account in 2013 on Monday, January 7 before hosting their richest raceday on Saturday January 19, a date for all racegoers to put into their diaries.

Punters are reminded that discounted tickets can be obtained on-line up to 48 hours in advance of the race day.
