Taunton fought back to register a fine 4-2 victory at Evesham United in the Evo-Stik southern league yesterday.

Marcus Palmer latched onto Simon Fitter's free kick to lash the ball past stand-in Town keeper Christian Watts to give Evesham a seventh minute lead.

But Taunton hit back when Craig Herrod fired across home custodian Tom Cross to equalise on 18 minutes.

Town then took the lead when Simon Ingram converted a penalty on 26 minutes after James Blake had been brought down.

Herrod added his second and Taunton's third on 32 minutes when he made room for himself to shoot past Cross from the left side of the area.

Palmer raced clear to finish past Watts and reduce the deficit on 38 minutes but the hosts then suffered a blow when Fitter received a red card for violent conduct.

Blake got on the scoresheet for Town's fourth after 47 minutes, shooting home after Herrod's saved shot ran loose.

Carl Brown became the second Evesham player to be sent off after his second booking to leave Town to see out the rest of the contest in relative comfort.
