BOWLS: Another win for Badgers in the Wellington mixed league
MATT Geraghty continued his winning ways, skipping Badgers to a 17 – 11 victory in the Mixed League against a strong Demons side led by Laurie Greaves.
Joe Dixon's Harriers played well against Geoff Jenkins' Gumboots, coming away with a big win 27 – 7.
Hemyock also put up a determined effort to try to climb the table, this week defeating Max Perry's Buzzards 26 – 5.
The Ladies League match between Liz Neville, Ann Horwood and Dot Challen's Wrens and Janice Thorne, Ann Cowling and Fran hughes' top of the table Skylarks took a surprise turn. Skylarks led at the beginning but Wrens came back well to take the game on the line 13 – 10.
Betty Hill, Brenda Wilson and Winn Courtney's Robins fought hard in their match against Pam Darch's Skylarks but were not able to catch them, going down 18 – 8.
In the Men's League Roger Peddle, Peter Swann, Derek Lane and Bob Codd's Wellington 4s played an excellent match to defeat Martin Speakman's second placed Wiveliscombe in a close game 12 – 7.
The Triples League saw a very close match between Martin Speakman's Nomads and Betty Dixon's Fivers. The game score went this way and that and Fivers had a narrow lead near the end but Nomads managed a late run taking a 3 in the last to win, 10 shots to 8.
Brian and Ann Gale were led by Mike Worden to a really close victory for Pilgrims against Margaret Brotheridge's Beavers by just one shot, 11 – 10.
