SOMERSET young guns Anya Shrubsole and Jos Buttler have both turned in match-winning performances for England this week.

Buttler, who is 22, is currently out in New Zealand with the England Twenty 20 squad and smashed his way to a brace of half centuries in the two warm up games ahead of the first T20 International in Auckland on Saturday.

On Tuesday the former Kings College pupil blasted his way to an unbeaten 57 off 24 balls including six 6s and three 6s to help England win by six wickets.

Today (Wednesday) Buttler has been at it again, hitting 51 off 31 balls, but it wasn’t quite enough to stop a New Zealand XI winning by one run off the final ball.

Shrubsole meanwhile, who is the captain of Somerset Women’s team claimed a career best 4-21 off eight overs to help England to victory over West Indies on Tuesday and a place in the Super Sixes stage of the World Cup out in Mumbai.

Both Shrubsole Bath and Buttler spent time on the Somerset Academy at the County Ground under the guidance of director Jason Kerr.
