TAUNTON Town drew 2-2 with Mangotsfield United last night when football returned to Wordsworth Drive after an absence of more than a month, writes James Wright.

On his home debut after rejoining Taunton, goalkeeper Grant Fisher was asked to save smartly from Ryan Bath just seconds after kick-off.

But three minutes later his team was in front. Shane Kingston, also back at Wordsworth Drive after a spell up country with Thatcham and Abingdon United, hared down the right and cut the ball back for Simon Ingram to extend his impressive scoring tally.

The lead lasted barely 20 minutes. Owen Irish, who had played for Weston the previous evening, was beaten in the air by Ben Hunt. Kyle Tooze latched on to the striker's flick-on and raced through to drill the ball low past Fisher.

Just after the half hour mark Scott Rogers, also on his home debut, was judged to have impeded Bath.

Mangotsfield captain Neil Arndale stepped up to rap the penalty low to Fisher's left, but Town were back on terms by half-time, Craig Herrod tucking the ball past Martin Horsell after being set up by Kingston.

After such a frenetic first half it was perhaps hardly surprising the second period was something of an anti-climax.

The visitors territorially just had the edge with Adnan Hiroli and Matt Thorne both having shots charged down.

Right at the death Ingram had a fabulous chance to win it for Taunton but his shot on the turn was just clawed out by Horsell to maintain parity.
