TAUNTON Town ladies notched up only their fourth point in 13 matches when they drew 1-1 with Dobwalls at Wordsworth Drive in division two of the South West Women’s league yesterday.

After a goal-less first half Dobwalls had a great chance to take the lead when they were awarded a controversial penalty. Fortunately for Taunton the spot kick was blazed over the crossbar.

The incident seemed to galvanise Taunton and the midfield three of Hannah Forse, Becky Churches and Claire Dawe began to pass the ball around nicely, keeping possession for the team.

Taunton were awarded a penalty when Rosie Wheeler was shoved to the floor in the box and Hannah Forse confidently slotting home the kick to give the home side the lead.

Rosie Wheeler had an opportunity to put the game to bed soon afterwards but failed to capitalise, giving the keeper an easy save.

Dobwalls pushed forward and beat the offside trap to secure a one-on-one with Taunton’s keeper and score.

Taunton held firm to secure the draw which leaves them just one point behind fellow strugglers Launceston.

The two teams meet again at Dobwalls on Sunday.
