WELLINGTON Reserves were denied two points when lowly Tipton St John headed home their second equaliser of the game with the last piece of play in division one of the Devon and Exeter League yesterday.

The match that was switched to Pitch Two at Wellington Playing Field following a cloudburst just as the teams were about to kick off that flooded Pitch One and so a kick-off was made at 3.50pm.

Wellington are now in fifth place and although they can reflect on great recent wins over Sidbury and Bow they have also dropped points with draws against Cullompton and now Tipton.

Wellington took the lead through Nathan Thomas and held the advantage to the break. But Tipton scored a great equaliser with a dipping shot over goalkeeper Chris Cherry.

Jack Bryant scored his seventh goal of the season to regain the lead for Wellington. But a disputed free kick led to Tipton’s second equaliser.

Next Saturday Wellington are away to Witheridge.
