MEMBERS of the Somerset Disabled Cricket Club have been busy training hard throughout February, March and April in preparation for the 2014 season which is just around the corner.

Since it was established back in 1997, the SDCC has enjoyed considerable success and the return of a revamped County Championship is an extra incentive for the players as they look to achieve more success on the national stage.

The Championship team begin their season on May 4 with an away match against Hampshire.

Both seasoned regulars and new recruits have been enjoying the Saturday morning coaching sessions at the County Ground and, with Edgar Herridge (Disability and School Development Officer) promoting the club across the county, the sessions saw a lot of new faces giving cricket a go for the first time.

These pre-season sessions were designed to provide an environment which made cricket accessible and fun for all and the consistent numbers at training reflected this.
