THE final weekend of Minehead’s long season saw two more successful events to round off another enjoyable season.

On Friday evening a packed clubhouse witnessed the Presentation Evening, with the U18’s joining a mixture of the Reserves and First Team players, supporters and sponsors to celebrate a season which leaves the club in a buoyant position.

On Sunday the club held their first senior five-a-side tournament for several years, incorporated within a Football Fun Day at The Recreation Ground.

The two competitions were both won by club representative teams, with the mens tournament being won by ‘Slim not Thin’ made up from first team players Aaron Deeks, Kyran Wilkins, Lee Todd, Jack Groves-Furse, Craig Carr amd Rob Gurnett.

The ladies competition was won by ‘The New Generation’, comprising largely of the previous season’s U15s girls team.

It is hoped the tournament will become an annual end of season event, giving the local football community the opportunity to finish their season with a bit of not too competitive fun.

Club treasurer Brian Walder said: “The club would like to thank all all referees who gave their time freely on the day.”
