WELLINGTON Midweek XI completed a three wicket home win over Nynehead last night.

Nynehead opted to bat first and reached 128-4 thanks largely to Stuart Thraves (50) and Paul Power (40 not) who added 91 for the third wicket.

Jack Beal with 2-18 in four excellent overs started well with the ball for Wellington as his left arm over style got among the Nynehead top order.

Then Paul Short's switch to medium pace saw him concede just 16 runs in four overs.

When Wellington replied Ben Evett smashed 23 in double quick time including a six that went into the clubhouse and out again.

At 43-3 the momentum was in danger of being lost but it was regained through Scott Davy's 28 and Des Campbell's brisk 25.

Two wickets for Julian Baycock saw Wellington slip to 114-7 and they had to be careful not to leave themselves too much to do in the last few overs.

However Short and Charlie Burrough saw Wellington home.
