THE Somerset Visually Impaired Cricket Club (SVICC) wasted no time getting their 2015 pre-season training underway when seven of the squad attended an impromptu training session at the Centre of Excellence, Taunton.

The squad were no doubt inspired by Somerset and England stars Jason Aughton and Ed Hossell who returned from the Blind Cricket World Cup in December, having helped the team all the way to the semi-finals.

The players were supported by SVICC Head Coach Edgar Herridge and the Somerset Cricket Board's new Community Coach, Andrew Skidmore.

Herridge was impressed with the team’s desire to get back into the nets prior to their scheduled pre-season sessions and said: “I was really pleased with the work that Ed and Jason put in last year before their trip to South Africa and I was even more thrilled that they wanted to get back underway with training straight away.

“It was great to have a number of other members of the squad joining them for the session. As each player improves they seem to drive all around them to also achieve more and this has made for a fantastic supportive and yet progressive team dynamic."

The group were quick to shake of the New Year's lull and put in the hard work that paid off so well in the domestic league last season.

It is hoped that such early preparation and determination will not only see the team defend their Twenty20 title but also vie for the County Championship title this year.
