JONATHAN Tipper won the Longrun Meadow parkrun on Saturday in a time of 17m 11s.

David Awde of Bristol and West AC was second place in 17m 24s and Daniel Miles of Taunton AC third in 18m 15s. First lady home was once again Hannah Taunton of Taunton AC in 19m 23s with Caroline Norris second in 21m 01s and Sam Wharton of Running Forever RC third in 21m 08s. A total of 206 runners tookk part including 14 first timers.

Among the 46 runners recording personal bests were: Dan Trippick (20m 53s), Roxanne Pratt (32m 29s), Ola Timpson (30m 59s), Gabriel Matravers (27m 40s), Emma Gribble (26m 41s), Kate Drew (22m 07s), Eliza Brodie (30m 15s), Debra Ashley (27m 51s), James Whitbread (28m 06s), Karla Ratcliffe (28m 24s), Will Henry (29m 47s), Ed Henry (29m 45s), Nic Tall (26m 11s), Graham Cook (29m 12s), Roger Evans (23m 12), Susan Nelmes –(28m 58s) and Rebecca Snell (28m 57s). Lindsey Haigh, who was recently named Quantock Harriers’ ‘most improved runner’, celebrated the anniversary of her first parkrun with a best of 43m 50s. That compares with her first run of 54m 36s.

Stephen Sampson, from Running Forever Running Club, braved poor weather conditions in the latest Wild Night Run at the weekend.

This largely off-road race, based at South Brent, starts after dark and covers ten miles across Dartmoor.

With a cold wind, snow and rain during the race, and slippery, muddy underfoot conditions, Stephen performed well finishing 66th out of 133 finishers in 1hr 42m 53s.

Meanwhile, husband and wife team of Goff and Cathie Welchman, stayed at sea level to run the Fulfords 5 at Exmouth.

Dry and cold conditions welcomed just under 300 runners and on an undulating course both ran well to finish in 47m 34s and 52m 17s respectively. Cathie’s time was a personal best.

Rowland Lyons was the sole harrier competing in Parkrun action last weekend at the Valentines (Ilford) event.

He clocked 28m 7s to finish in 81st place from a field of 202 competitors.
