A FULL field of 130 players took part in the March Medal at Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club.

At the end of a round that was played on full greens off summer tees Rod Stevens with 64 was the winner in Division One, two ahead of Robert Nicholls with 66, while Nat Pepperell was third with 67.

Geoff Tyler won the second division with 68, but there was a two way tie on 70 but after countback it was Mark Grandfield who claimed second ahead of Frank Kirkham.

Chris Puckett headed the third flight with 64, one better than second placed Roy Miller, with Richard Feetenby third on 66.

Mark Bradford with 42 points was the winner of the Midweek Stableford three ahead of second placed Kieren Buckley, who was one point better than third placed Keith Sandow.

On Tuesday the Ladies Section enjoyed fabulous weather for their traditional curtain-raiser to the coming season as almost 50 contested for honours in the New Season Shotgun Bowmaker. Firing on all cylinders, and the runaway winners with 69 points, was the team comprising Janet Kingston, Katy Davies and Senga Westwater. Chasing them home were Jane Ledsham, Marlene Ewens and Elaine Payne with 66 points. Lunch in the Clubhouse after the golf was followed by a talk from Course Manager, Jeff Mills, who explained to the ladies the secret of ensuring all-year round quality golf is available at T&P, notwithstanding whatever challenges the winter weather Gods have presented over the last few months. Jeff Mills and his team certainly got the course looking and playing beautifully for a very happy bunch of lady golfers.

OAKE Manor are preparing for the Ladies AGM next Tuesday (March 17) and the main AGM two days later.

Thes will be followed by the annual Captain’s Charity Drive on Sunday, March 22 when funds will be raised for the new Captains’ charity of the year: – the Somerset Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (SNICU) at Musgrove Park Hos-pital.
