QUEEN'S College star swimmers, Rebecca Wilde and Jacob Greenow both competed at the ASA National Winter Swimming Championships in Sheffield, earlier this month.

They pair swam in the senior open age group competition against some of the top GB swimmers, many of whom will be hoping to go to the Olympics this summer.

Rebecca competed in eight events in total and made the ‘B’ final in five of those, swimming several personal best times.

Her best performance came in the 200m freestyle, where she won the ‘B’ final, going under the 2.00 minute barrier for the first time.

Jacob competed in six events and swam significant personal best times in all of them.

He made the senior ‘A’ final in all three Individual Medley events plus the 200m backstroke.

In the backstroke he finished in 6th place, swimming the fastest ever time by a British 16 year old, but it was in the 400m IM that he gave his best performance, with an 8 second personal best.

On the day, he finished in third place, winning his first ever senior medal at National level.

As a consequence, he finished the year ranked number one in Great Britain for his age group in all IM events.
