TAUNTON Town begin a crucial three-match spell this Saturday, when they take on Burnham in Southern League Div One S&W, hoping to keep their impressive unbeaten run going, writes Kerry Miller.

Leaders Cinderford Town won by a single goal at Bridgwater on Tuesday night, where Town fans were hoping that former favourite Paul West’s side could have pulled off another victory, following Saturday’s home win over North Leigh.

Town have played a game more but have a trip to Burnham this Saturday, followed by a home clash with Banbury United next Tuesday and a game at Supermarine on the 30th, all three sides sitting in the top five.

Meanwhile Cinderford entertain Winchester City on Saturday.

Peacocks’ boss Leigh Robinson said after the Wantage game: “It was a perfect day in a way as we scored five, kept a clean sheet, saw a few very good individual performances and got two under 18’s on for some experience.

“I thought we controlled the game pretty much from start to finish particularly after scoring so early.

“The players put in a very professional performance today and I was delighted that there was no let up in their focus or attitude from the previous few weeks.”

Meanwhile there are still seats available on the coach going to Burnham and departure time from the ground is 10.15am and the cost is only £5 per person.

The Under 18 side continue to be frustrated by the weather and have not kicked a ball in anger since December 2.

They are not due to play again until next Wednesday when they visit leaders Yate.
