TITANS head coach, Tony Yapp described his side's performance during Saturday's 25-21 defeat at Canterbury as 'a mixed bag' and bemoaned a lack of cutting edge on the day.

Yapp's side squandered a half-time lead to slip to a narrow defeat in Kent, and the head coach said his side had been 'a little blunt'.

He said: "Our own performance was a mixed bag; moments of great play and tempo, but too often we were a little blunt and not quite firing.

"Our attack lacked patience and accuracy and our defence, although it had good line speed too, often lacked a dominant tackle at the end of it.

"It would be too easy for us to look at the number of injuries we have and players unavailable as a reason for not picking up results over the last month, but we really can't allow ourselves to think like that.

"This is a great opportunity for fringe players to put their hand up and show us what they can do and stake a claim for a regular starting shirt, so we're going to get the chance to have a good look at these young and fringe players before the end of the season."

"To play in the Titans shirt there is a real responsibility for whichever players get to wear it and as coaches over the last four games, we have to work hard make sure the players understand that responsibility and put in four performances we can be proud of.

"I must also mention Dan Frost and Nick Mason, who on the weekend against Canterbury, were both outstanding."
